Knitting works
I grew up with a knitting grandmother and mother. My mother also spun wool and dyed wool and later had her own wool shop in Zutphen a medieval town in the middle of the Netherlands. Knitting is ,as in many countries ,part of our history and i very much enjoy to carry on with this tradition. When younger i had big ideas but not the patience to see my projects through. It was only in my early thirties, and especially when i had my child ,that knitting became a part of my daily life.
always more than one project on the needles and over the years i have sold more creations than i can remember.
I started out with socks but that soon became boring to me. Some work on order too ,like to socks and leg warmers below but working on order does not give me much joy. Baby socks are still part of the things i love to create though. They’re just so cute. And socks for my son . .
i then started with hand warmers and mittens and played with that for a while. The first pair of handwarmers i knit for myself i still use
i knit a lot of these types. With caps for the top of your fingers and your thumb. Thick wool ,usually with a cable. And then a lot of these handwarmers too. I still love to make these ,they’re just so handy ,lol
After some time i started to look for a bit more challenging designs. There were gaps in between because it sometimes took me so long to get the design. It is funny looking back on that. I remember clearly how i could not get passed a certain point for a long time. I think it was the second of a pair and it just laid around for ages waiting for my brain to catch up with what i was asking it to do . . .
And then finally to gloves
